Hotel VIU Milan: Contemporary Elegance Above the Rooftops of Italy’s Style Capital

In a city that defines design, fashion, and modern Italian elegance, Hotel VIU Milan stands tall — literally and metaphorically — as a destination that captures Milan’s spirit with refined comfort, panoramic views, and an effortless sense of style.

Perched above one of Milan’s most dynamic neighborhoods, this hotel feels like a stylish retreat in a city where every corner tells a story of creativity and culture.

Our room was also extremely comfortable, and we were welcomed with a lovely setup of pastries, fruit, and a bottle of sparkling wine. Another special feature of the hotel is its intimate spa area, complete with a sauna, relaxation zone, and a well-equipped gym. What makes this particularly unique is that these facilities are not located on a lower floor, as is common in many hotels, but higher up—so even while working out, you can enjoy views of Milan

One of the hotel’s most special features is the “Chef’s Table,” known here as the “Friends Table.” This is a long table set in a cozy corner of the kitchen, made inviting by vintage sideboards, vinyl records, and cookbooks. Dinners are often hosted here where strangers sit together for a shared dining experience—and they don’t just leave with memories of exceptional flavors, but quite often with new friendships as well. On these occasions, there is no classic à la carte menu; instead, the chef curates the entire dinner, making it a surprise for the guests. Of course, allergies and dietary sensitivities are discussed in advance.

They pay exceptional attention to this, which I personally appreciated a lot. The breakfast selection also included a wide range of gluten-free and lactose-free options, and gluten-free bread was brought to us separately. Breakfast is served on the hotel’s rooftop, in the rooftop bar, with both a buffet section and à la carte options—we tried both, and everything was fantastic. From the bar, you can step directly out onto the rooftop terrace, where a pool and sun loungers await. The view is stunning, overlooking both the historic city center and Milan’s modern business district. In the evening lights, the atmosphere was simply magical—we truly felt like we were above the illuminated city, surrounded by pure big-city elegance.

We were also invited for an aperitivo at the rooftop bar, where we received personalized cocktail recommendations along with a selection of small bites. Although these were technically appetizers, they were so generous and satisfying that we didn’t even feel the need to have dinner afterward. 🙂 The presentation was elegant, the dishes were beautiful and colorful, and combined with the night lights and soft music, the experience became truly unforgettable—right above Milan.

From a public transport perspective, it’s also very convenient, as one of the tram lines runs directly next to the hotel.

Visiting this hotel in December was a truly special experience, allowing us to immerse ourselves in Milan’s festive Christmas atmosphere. The hotel itself embraced the holiday spirit as well: a huge, richly decorated Christmas tree—worthy of a classic Christmas movie—stood in the lobby, setting the tone from the very first moment.
